Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Delta Reign Launches November 6 With Mega Rayquaza ex

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Delta Reign officially launches November 6, 2026, following a prerelease window from October 24 to November 1. The expansion introduces new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and a panoramic Legendary Stadium mechanic, with Mega Rayquaza ex serving as the primary chase card for collectors and competitive players.

The upcoming release marks the sixth expansion in the Mega Evolution series, designated as set ME06. It follows Pitch Black, released July 17, and the 30th Celebration special set, which launched September 16. While the set is a worldwide release in November, it is the English version of Japan’s Storm Emeralda, which has been available since July 31, 2026. This gap in release dates provides a rare window of real-world price data for collectors to evaluate the set’s potential value before the English cards hit shelves.

Mega Rayquaza ex and the Chase Card Market

Mega Rayquaza ex is the headliner of the set, marking the first appearance of the Pokémon in the TCG since XY—Ancient Origins. The card features a 280 HP Basic body and the Ruler’s Roar Ability, which allows a player to attach a Basic Energy from the top four cards of the deck when the Pokémon is benched. Its primary attack, Storm Emerald, deals 50 damage for each Fire and Lightning Energy attached to all of the player’s Pokémon.

Market data from the Japanese Storm Emeralda set indicates a massive valuation gap between versions of the card.

However, English market trends often diverge from Japanese ones. If this pattern holds, the English Mega Rayquaza ex versions could land in a specific range.

Raikou ex and the Legendary Stadium Mechanic

Beyond the mascot, Raikou ex has emerged as a high-interest card due to its artwork by Oku, an artist whose Pokemon cards show off a painterly style and rich, vivid color. The artwork depicts the Legendary Pokémon charging through a gorge on the back of lightning strikes, resembling a centuries-old landscape painting found in a stately home. The card is capable of dealing 200 damage in one hit, though it carries a significant risk: a tails coin flip prevents Raikou ex from attacking during the next turn. Opponents take two Prize cards if they defeat it.

Raikou ex also possesses another power to soften the blow; if a player goes first, ‘Thunder-Clad’ allows them to search the deck for an Energy. For collectors, the Raikou #136 SIR is a top pick, featuring the Legendary Beast jumping across rocky spires with lightning flaring from its paws. Other classic Legendary Pokémon returning in Delta Reign include Kyogre and Rayquaza, as well as the Legendary Beasts trio. A Kyogre card is available as an ETB promo.

The set also introduces Legendary Stadiums, which consist of two separate Stadium cards that form a single panorama when placed side by side. The first revealed English version is the Legendary Summit. To prevent frustration for collectors, booster packs containing a Legendary Stadium include both halves of the artwork.

Prerelease Logistics and Build & Battle Boxes

Players can access the set early through prerelease events starting October 24, 2026, at select Play! Pokémon stores. These events run through November 1, 2026. Trainers are encouraged to use the Play! Pokémon Event Locator to find events and confirm their seats with stores, as buying a Build & Battle Box online is not the same as registering for an event. These events use a streamlined format with 40-card decks and four Prize cards, rather than the standard 60-card deck and six Prize cards.

Entry fees vary by location; for example, Paradox Comics-N-Cards in Fargo, North Dakota, listed a session for $24.99, which included a Build & Battle Kit and three additional packs. Each Build & Battle Box contains four booster packs, a 40-card ready-to-play deck, and one of four foil promo cards. These promos are new, alternate art versions of cards in the set:

Retail Pricing and Preorder Risks

While the official MSRP for the regular Elite Trainer Box (ETB) is $49.99, current preorder markets show significant inflation.

Historical data suggests these premiums may be short-lived. In the case of the Pitch Black set, preorder prices fell between 32 and 80 percent within ten weeks of release. This suggests that buyers paying current market premiums may face a sharp decline in value once the November 6 retail launch stabilizes supply.

The expansion’s total size exceeds 135 cards, including 14 Illustration Rares, 17 Ultra Rares, and 6 Special Illustration Rares. The English version is notably larger than the Japanese main set, adding 27 cards to the numbered sequence.
