The police were alerted at 03.06 on Monday night about a loud bang in a residential area in Handen in Haninge municipality.
On site, it was established that something had detonated at the entrance to an apartment building with material damage as a result.
– Among other things, there is a gate in the property that is completely blown to pieces. It’s also about broken windows on the side where it detonated, says Anna Westberg, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police.
No one is said to have been injured in connection with the explosion.
A police operation is underway at the scene. The area has been cordoned off pending a technical investigation and the National Bomb Squad is on its way to the scene.
– We work with door knocking and also go through access to any surveillance footage, as well as looking for the person or persons behind the explosion, says Anna Westberg.

Conversations have also been held with people who live in the house.
Is the address already known to the police?
– I cannot confirm that, but it is part of our work to investigate addresses where detonations occur. We always look at who lives at the address to investigate who or who might be a target.
The incident is classified as public-dangerous devastation.
At the moment, no one has been arrested.
