Police Patrol Shot At During Car Check in Östersund
ÖSTERSUND – A routine car check in central Östersund turned into a harrowing experience for a police patrol on Saturday evening when shots were fired in their direction. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and two individuals were apprehended after a high-speed pursuit.
The incident occurred when the police attempted to stop and inspect a suspicious vehicle. Instead of cooperating, the occupants of the car opened fire and swiftly fled the scene. A pursuit ensued, with the police hot on their trail. Eventually, the fleeing vehicle was caught, leading to the arrest of two individuals on Sunday.
The National Police Chief, Anders Thornberg, has expressed his grave concern over the incident. “I take this attack on the police very seriously. An assault on law enforcement is an assault on society as a whole,” he stated.
