“Policy of persecution”: the restrictions on the ‘Komi Uri’ hill have been reinstated

by time news

Almost eight months after the security system removed the restrictions imposed on the Komi Uri Bitchar neighborhood, today (Wednesday) the security forces blocked the way of the residents of the neighborhood and presented them with a closed military area order imposed on the area. The order was signed last February, but so far it has not been enforced and according to the residents they have not even seen him until today.

The restrictions on the Komi Uri neighborhood are slowly returning. In the last few days, security forces began to alternately block the entrance to the place and patrol the residents’ houses. Today, the access roads to the neighborhood were blocked, as was the case before the removal of the heavy restrictions imposed on the residents.

According to the new order, which was signed by General Yehuda Fox, the entry or stay of only Israelis is prohibited in any area of the Komi Uri neighborhood, and any policeman has the authority to arrest anyone staying in the area.

The neighborhood expressed concern this evening that the security system had decided to “return the siege that had been on the neighborhood for the past two years”, and was finally stopped after a long struggle that included extensive public pressure.

Following the blockades carried out by the fighters, the residents of the neighborhood demonstrated this evening near the MGB checkpoint that is stationed at the entrance. During the demonstration, the residents waved protest banners that read “Go take care of the enemy” and “Free Kumi Uri”.

Komi Uri said this evening: “It is not possible that while Arab terrorism on the roads of Judea and Samaria and in the rest of the country is rampant, the security establishment under the guidance of the political echelon chooses to fight the Jewish settlement. Unfortunately, it seems that this is the dying throes of the Gantz-Lapid government.”

Komi Uri also said that they “expect the right-wing government that will be formed soon to immediately cancel all the restrictions imposed on Komi Uri, and to stop the policy of persecution against the settlements led by Gantz.”

It should be noted that the MGB soldiers who carry out the enforcement operations on the spot receive the orders that are decided by the IDF Sector Brigade and the Civil Administration which is subordinate to the Ministry of Defense.
