Political analyst Alexei Mukhin on Thursday, November 4, in an interview with Izvestia, said that the detention in the United States of Russian analyst Igor Danchenko has political overtones.

According to him, the current situation is both paradoxical and very symptomatic for the United States.

“On the one hand, they need an evidence base in order to accuse [бывшего президента США Дональда] Trump or Russia in something. On the other hand, there is actually no evidence, so they fabricate it. And now they imitate legal activity in order to bring at least some meaningful grounds for the policy they are pursuing, ”the expert noted.

In addition, he stressed that such activities have nothing to do with the legal part, “this is purely politics.”

Mukhin also pointed out that if Danchenko hires good lawyers, it will be one of the most shameful trials in US history. Otherwise, the fate of the analyst is “regrettable.”

According to the expert, the visit of CIA Director William Burns to Moscow is not connected with the arrest of Danchenko. The political scientist argues that “it just happened chronologically.”

On November 4, US authorities arrested analyst Danchenko as part of an investigation into alleged ties between US ex-President Trump and Russia. It was noted that the arrest of the analyst is part of an investigation by Special Attorney John Durham.

Danchenko was accused of giving false testimonies to the FBI five times from June to November 2017 regarding the sources of information he provided to the British firm.

However, on the same day, the court released the Russian from custody on bail of $ 100 thousand. The Russian analyst was released with restrictive conditions: Danchenko will not be required to wear an electronic bracelet, but he will be banned from leaving Washington. In addition, he must also hand over his passport within 24 hours.

Last September, US Senator Lindsay Graham called the man who was the source of the Trump dirt “a possible Russian agent.” After a while, the former American leader posted a post on his Twitter stating that Igor Danchenko was a “Russian agent.”
