Director Sathyan Anthikkad says that politicians should improve themselves and improve the country. That’s what the message was trying to convey through the film. However, he said that some sections had tried to label the film as apolitical. Sathyan told IFFK that politics can only be purified if intelligent people born into good families come.

I’m a normal person, except for the director. There are problems I face, there are views I see. That’s what I bring to my movies. We are unaware of the changes that are taking place in the society in the course of time. Unchanged is the only movie message I ever felt. Our political situation today is not much different from what it was 30 years ago when the message was taken. Even today, if a party loses, we will do a theoretical review, why lose? That is what is still happening. The rest of the films have undergone changes.
Films like this were made because they discuss politics and follow it. Criticism of this apolitical argument has been around since the message was released. There was a propaganda that the message of this film was to turn one’s face away from politics and look after one’s own affairs. That’s not the case. Thilakan’s character says, ‘Politics is good. When good people do it ‘. The characters of Srinivasan and Jayaram, who are portrayed as advocates of politics in the message, are not good politicians.
Mainly that movie discusses only the story of the ranks. There is not even an MLA or a panchayat president in the film. Mammootty, the constituency president of a party, is the greatest political leader of a party. The message is the story of people below that. It is to convince them of politics. The people from the 2 different parties seen in it are the only ones standing together on the outside of it. Or is it real politics? The real politics is service. When children are enrolled in a normal school with politics, they throw stones at the bus and go on strike, eventually coming to a time when they rule as ministers. So young people born into good families and with good intentions should enter politics. But politics can be purified.
