Pope Francis baptizes a child from Ukraine in the Vatican

On Monday, November 6, Pope Francis baptized Zakhariy, a 3-month-old Ukrainian baby, in the Chapel of Saint Martha in the Vatican.

According to Vatican News, the little girl lives with her parents and nine siblings in Kamianets-Podilskyi, western Ukraine, in a region barely affected by the war that broke out in February 2022 after Russia’s invasion.

For this family, of the Neocatechumenal Way, this baptism is “a gift” amid the difficulties of war. They point out that they face “everything thanks to God, because God always takes care of our family.”
