António Costa assures that Portugal will give Ukraine ‘Leopard 2’ tanks. The Prime Minister of Portugal adds that an operation is underway with Berlin in order to recover some tanks.
The Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, assured that he would hand over ‘Leopard 2’ tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and added that a logistical operation was currently underway with Germany to recover some tanks.
Speaking to the Lusa news agency, António Costa adds that this shipment of tanks to Kyiv does not jeopardize the national military capacity.
The head of the Portuguese executive underlined that Lisbon and Berlin are working to “allow a logistical operation to supply parts, with a view to completing the recovery of some of the cars [de combate] that were not operational.
Asked about the possible date for sending these ‘Leopard 2’ to Ukraine, the official pointed to the end of March.
António Costa’s statements were made to Lusa at the end of a visit he made to the Portuguese military mission in the Central African Republic.
