Manila – Power has been restored at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, Philippines. After 72 hours, the operation at the airport was back to normal. More than 65,000 passengers were affected by the disruption of 361 flights. These were canceled, delayed or diverted. Several flights were ordered to avoid Philippine airspace. On New Year’s Eve, the power went out at the airport.

The airport installed its own electricity system in 2018. But on Sunday, the main power system and backup system went down. Soon after it was connected to the commercial electricity grid but faced high voltage and related problems. Due to this, there was disruption in radar, communication, radio, internet etc.

Manila’s airport is notorious for being one of the worst airports in the world.
