A 16-year-old boy from Chennai has beaten world number one chess player Magnus Carlsen.
The boy, Pragyananda, took part in the Internet’s Earthing’s Masters Chess Series. Pragyananda, who won only one of the first seven matches, faced world number one Carlsen in the eighth match.
Pragyananda, who showed excellent play from the start, knocked down Carlsen in 39 moves. Pragyananda, who captured the attention of everyone by winning the World Under-8 Chess Championship in 2013, today defeated Carlsen.
