The will for continuous and direct cooperation between the Epirus Department of the TEE and the Municipality of Ioannina, with the aim of progress and balanced development of the region, was expressed in the meeting of members of the faction “Cooperating Engineers – DCM” with the mayor of Ioannina, Thomas Bega, in the context of the faction’s contacts in view of the elections for the selection of the new bodies of the Technical Chamber’s administration on May 19.
The Epirus Department of TEE already has an institutional role as a Technical Advisor in the European Mission for the 100 Energy Neutral and Smart Cities, in which the city of Ioannina participates. In the meeting, the very constructive cooperation of the two sides was emphasized, as well as various problems that may arise and how they should be dealt with through the cooperation of the two sides.
Another major topic, raised in the discussion, has to do with the initiation of the Urban Planning process, which are prepared under the supervision of the TEE. On this topic, proposals were discussed for the new Local Urban Plan of Ioannina, the need for continuous cooperation with the services of the Municipality and especially with Urban Planning, in order to develop the necessary land uses, which will contribute to the development of the area and to the preservation of the environmental balance of the city, as well as the need to locate new energy communities and in general the development of RES in the wider area, for the benefit of the local community, with the aim of reducing the phenomenon of smog.
Also discussed was the need to institutionalize the Presidential Decree of Pamvotida Lake, which will contribute decisively to the rescue and preservation of the lake system and is a standing request of both the Epirus Department of the TEE and the municipal authority.
Special reference was made to the various financial tools that must be found and are necessary for the development of new projects by the Municipality of Ioannito. Furthermore, the mayor referred to the course of projects implemented by the Municipality of Ioannito, with special references to the Gianniotiko Saloni and the building of the Old University.
The members of the “Collaborating Engineers – DCM” faction thanked the mayor Thomas Bega for the warm welcome, as well as for the atmosphere of willingness to continue the perfect cooperation between the two sides, with Th. Bega wishing good success in the elections and stating that hopes for a continuation of the good cooperation after the elections.
