A confidential, 24/7 helpline operated by Heartbeat International, known as Option Line, received a record-breaking 1.3 million calls for pregnancy support in 2025, signaling a important increase in demand for these services. This milestone represents more than triple the call volume from 2024 and the highest annual total in the helpline’s history.
Growing Demand for Support
The surge in calls to Option Line underscores a critical need for resources and compassionate guidance for individuals and couples navigating pregnancy-related decisions. According to a recent announcement, the helpline connects callers with local pregnancy help organizations and provides consultations with professionally trained staff. these staff members offer “compassionate listening [and] accurate facts†to over 3,700 individuals daily, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
At-Risk Individuals Seeking Help
A significant portion of those reaching out to Option Line are facing arduous circumstances. A director at Option Line stated that more than 90% of contacts are individuals at risk for abortion, with tens of thousands specifically seeking abortion information or referrals. The helpline is also increasingly assisting women who have already obtained abortion pills by mail, frequently enough seeking guidance due to a lack of information from the provider.
“We are grateful to have every prospect to speak hope and life to these callers!†the director emphasized.
Expanding Support Through Telecare
to address the growing need and provide immediate assistance, Heartbeat international recently launched a High Risk Response Network. This network leverages Option Line’s existing connections with local pregnancy help centers to offer telecare consultations to callers reaching out after hours. The association reports a strong engagement rate, with 70-75% of scheduled appointments and 90% of virtual consultations being attended.
The Broader Impact of Pregnancy Help Centers
The increased demand for Option Line’s services aligns with a broader trend of growth within the pregnancy help center network. A report released in November 2025 by the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), in partnership with Care Net, Heartbeat International, the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), and the Focus on the Family Option Ultrasound Programme, highlighted the record-setting impact of these centers in 2024.
The report revealed that 1,012,976 new clients were served by pregnancy centers in 2024, receiving a total of $452 million in medical care, support, education, and material goods. These centers are largely staffed by volunteers, but also employ over 18,000 paid staff, 28% of whom are licensed medical professionals. Combined, volunteers and paid staff represent more than 10,000 medical professionals dedicated to supporting families.
Of the 2,775 help centers surveyed:
- 92% provided material items
- 85% offered prenatal and parenting education programs
- 81% provided ultrasounds
- 77% provided post-abortion recovery services
A Commitment to Unwavering Support
The success of Option Line and the broader network of pregnancy help centers demonstrate a growing trust in these organizations. Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International, affirmed this commitment, stating, “Pregnancy doesn’t take a holiday or the night off, and neither do we.†He added that the milestone “reflects the growing trust people place in Option Line and the unwavering commitment of pregnancy help organizations to meet women and families with compassion, dignity, and hope.â€
