Pregnant Woman Found in Trunk: Husband Arrested

A man previously reported to police four years ago at the request of his wife’s family is now facing accusations of kidnapping and mistreatment in Cuneo, Italy. The case centers around a young couple and their two daughters who had recently settled in a small town in the Alta Langa region.

Locals hadn’t seen the family around town, and the wife’s parents in Calabria reported losing contact with their daughter and granddaughters. Concerned, they prompted the carabinieri to summon the woman for questioning; her husband unexpectedly appeared, becoming agitated when authorities removed the mother and girls from the home and placed them in an anti-violence center. Her account revealed a pattern of intense jealousy.

The young mother recounted being locked in the trunk of her husband’s car while eight months pregnant, simply because he didn’t want her to visit her father. She also stated he prevented her from using the balcony, even inserting toothpicks into the window frames to ensure she couldn’t leave unnoticed. A volunteer at the anti-violence center, testifying as a witness, shared further details: «During their moves to Germany, Lombardy, and Piedmont, he grew suspicious of any contact she had with other men, frequently relocating due to his jealousy.»

He worked as a plumber, but limited his jobs to avoid extended absences, often taking his wife and children with him and keeping them confined to the car.
