Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that under the leadership of information and communication technician Sajib Wazed Joy, the technology-based economy is developing in the country today. The establishment of Digital Bangladesh has created employment for millions of youth in the IT sector. More than half of the total population in Bangladesh is youth. Sajeeb Wazed Joy is taking Bangladesh forward by increasing the enthusiasm and creativity of this youth.

He said that he has made an outstanding contribution in showing the dreams of the youth and making them come true and making them entrepreneurs. He is well-planned leadership in preparing the young generation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and harnessing its potential.

He said this in a greeting message on the occasion of the 54th birthday of Sajib Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on Saturday (July 27).

In his congratulatory message, Obaidul Quader said that Sajib Wazed Joy received a higher degree from the famous educational institution of the United States, Harvard University. However, despite being educated in western education, no fascination could overwhelm him. As a member of the family of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he abandoned all illusions and came back to Bengali. He gave his acquired knowledge for the prosperity of the Bengali nation.

He said that Sajeev Wazed Joy has opened up new horizons of possibilities with the help of developing technology to make the dreams of Bangabandhu and his daughter a reality, has shown amazing success, has sown the seeds of dreams by infusing new life in the hearts of crores of young people. In 2007, he was named one of the 250 Young World Leaders. He was selected as ‘Global Leader of the World’ by the World Economic Forum. Sajib Wazed Joy has anointed Bangladesh to a unique height by establishing Digital Bangladesh to make the new generation world-class citizens in this era of technological excellence. With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he revolutionized information technology in the entire country. He played an important role in launching Bangabandhu satellite into space.

Obaidul Quader pointed out that there has been a radical change in the socio-economic field of Bangladesh due to the steps taken by Jai, and said that under the LICT project of Information and Communication Technology Department, training is being given to create skilled human resources on 10 state-of-the-art technologies. Education system is being modernized by establishing multimedia class room, Sheikh Russell digital lab and computer training center in every upazila technical college and training center across the country, Sheikh Kamal training institute and incubation center in every district. 13 crore people of the country are using internet and 186 million people are using mobile. 6.5 lakh people are freelancing in the ICT sector. 327 crore private investments have been made in 39 hi-tech parks in the country, where 13 thousand youths have been employed. E-governance services have ensured expansion and ease of access to government facilities. People are getting more than 300 types of public and private services through digital centers across the country. Export revenue in the ICT sector stands at $1.3 billion, which will increase to $5 billion in 2025. All these have been made possible by the visionary decision of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the dreamer of Digital Bangladesh.

He said, Sajib Wazed Joy’s visionary steps of 5 initiatives of Digital Bangladesh have been appreciated internationally. Bangladesh has won the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) award for its contribution to expanding the use of information and communication technology for sustainable development. Sajeeb Wazed Joy has received the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (Association) Award-2021 for outstanding contribution to the IT sector.
