The non-resident ambassador of Bangladesh, Mohammad Zulkar Nain, presented the certificate to the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Sheikh El Ghajuwani.

On February 27, the certificate was handed over to the president’s office in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, with a guard of honor.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritania and high-ranking officials of the President’s Office.

In the courtesy meeting, Ambassador Zulkar Nain detailed the development of Bangladesh in the socio-economic sector in the last 15 years and said that the President of Mauritania is aware of the progress of Bangladesh as a role model for development. President Ghajuwani opined that it is necessary to increase the development cooperation between the two countries. Noting that Bangladesh has already started activities in this regard, Ambassador Zulkar Nain informed the President that he is participating in Mauritania’s diplomatic year-long postgraduate course at the Foreign Service Academy at the invitation of the Bangladesh government. The President of Mauritania assured Ambassador Mohamed Zulkar Nain of all cooperation in improving the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Mauritania.

It should be noted that in the last three years, the amount of export from Bangladesh to Mauritania has doubled from 0.6 million US dollars to about 1.2 million US dollars. Although the main export products from Bangladesh are clothes and medicines made in Mauritania, the Ambassador of Bangladesh expressed optimism about the export of these two as well as other sectors such as toys, furniture, fishing trawlers in the future. He shed light on possible cooperation between the governments of Bangladesh and Mauritania in various sectors including agriculture, information technology, health, defense, education.
