President Gustavo Petro signed a new decree in which he orders the suspension of the ceasefire with the FARC dissidents led by alias ‘Iván Mordisco’.

According to the decree, military operations against this guerrilla will resume on March 20 in three specific departments: Nariño, Cauca and Valle del Cauca.

The official statement states: “Suspend the bilateral and temporary ceasefire of a national nature with Territorial Impact (CFBTNT) between the National Government and the Central General Staff of the FARC-EP in the departments of Nariño, Cauca and Valle del Cauca. Consequently, order the resumption of offensive military operations and police operations starting at 00:00 on March 20, 2024 against the structures of the Central General Staff of the FARC-EP present in the Departments of Nariño, Cauca. and Valle del Cauca”.

This decision comes in response to the recent attack by these guerrilla dissidents against the indigenous minga in Toribío, Cauca.

There, FARC dissidents, Dagoberto Ramos structure, shot at the community and indigenous guard who were searching for a minor they had kidnapped. Three injured reported the CRIC.

“These events clearly demonstrate that the will for peace of the Dagoberto Ramos Front and the Central General Staff of the FARC dissidents is non-existent,” said the Association of Indigenous Councils of Northern Cauca.
