George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, visited Kaia Gerber’s Los Angeles home following the death of Presley Gerber, who died September 20 at a Santa Monica sober-living facility from a suspected overdose at age 27.
Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died the morning after arriving at Resolutions Living, a facility located on the 1000 block of Berkeley Street in Santa Monica. Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a 9:35 a.m. call on Sunday, September 20, reporting a possible overdose and cardiac arrest. Gerber was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed there is no indication of foul play. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner completed an autopsy but deferred the official cause and manner of death pending additional testing, including toxicology studies.
Industry Scrutiny Over Admission Protocols at Resolutions Living
Sources familiar with the situation told TMZ that Gerber arrived Saturday evening apparently under the influence
. The California Department of Health Care Services stated that it has no record of Resolutions Living operating as a licensed residential substance-use disorder treatment facility. The agency noted that the program functions as a sober-living environment, a classification that does not require a state license or subject the facility to the same oversight as residential treatment centers.
Criminal Record and Regulatory History of Founder Reza Nabavi
Public records show that Resolutions Therapeutic Services founder Reza Nabavi faced legal and licensing hurdles before establishing the Santa Monica program. Oakland police arrested Nabavi twice in 2002. In February of that year, officers found a 25-year-old Nabavi asleep in a vehicle with a 15-year-old girl who told authorities she was under the influence of methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine, marijuana, a handgun, ammunition, and a knife. Nabavi pleaded no contest in May 2002 to misdemeanor controlled-substance possession and received 36 months of probation.

Less than four weeks later, police arrested Nabavi a second time after he allegedly agreed to sell methamphetamine to a confidential informant. Officers recovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and a glass pipe during that search, leading to another no contest plea for misdemeanor drug possession in June 2002 and an additional 36-month probation term. When Nabavi later applied for a California psychology license in 2004, the California Board of Psychology denied the application due to his criminal convictions and controlled-substance history. He eventually registered as a psychological assistant in January 2006 under probationary conditions, which included monitoring, recovery program participation, and random drug testing. The board granted early probation termination in May 2008, and his psychologist license remains active through June 30, 2028.
Family Bonds and Support From Longtime Friends
As the family mourns, close friends have rallied around Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford. George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, arrived at Kaia Gerber’s Los Angeles home on Tuesday. Clooney, who co-founded Casamigos tequila with Rande Gerber and real estate developer Mike Meldman, maintained a close relationship with Presley.

A source told the Daily Mail that Clooney would spend hours talking to Presley and described him as the nicest guy in the world who would do anything to help Rande’s family.
