Bolsonaro and Michelle are in the sights of the Federal Police in case of jewelry sale

The progress of investigations by the Federal Police (PF) into the illegal sale of jewelry given to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) – which should make up the national heritage – is strengthening a movement in the Chamber of Deputies for the opening of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI).

Until then, around 111 deputies have already signed the request for the installation of the CPI, while the authors of the request hope to get 130 supporters. The leaders of the signature collection are government deputies Túlio Gadêlha (Rede-PE) and Rogério Correia (PT-MG). To install a CPI, at least 171 signatures are needed, that is, one third of the representatives of the House.

Last Friday (11), the Federal Police carried out four search and seizure warrants in an operation to combat crimes of embezzlement and money laundering in the case of jewelry received by the ineligible former president, Jair Bolsonaro, from foreign governments.

The PF is gathering evidence that Bolsonaro, his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, and former members of the government for subtracting and selling national assets (jewels) abroad, keeping the money. Bolsonaro and Michelle had their tax and banking secrecy broken by the investigation.

The targets of the operation were General Mauro César Lourena Cid, father of Jair Bolsonaro’s former aide Mauro Cid; Army Lieutenant Osmar Crivelatti; and one of Bolsonaro’s lawyers, Frederick Wassef.

The PF reports supported the release of the warrants by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, as they reveal the sale of jewelry kits in the United States, and the attempt to auction other goods.

It is the first time that former President Bolsonaro has been mentioned as the centerpiece of an alleged scheme, through messages that revealed an articulation to deliver cash to him, and through the use of the presidential plane to illegally transport the jewels that should have declared by the ex-president’s entourage.

The former president’s defense stated that he “never appropriated or embezzled any public property”, through a note that also claims that Bolsonaro delivered jewelry “voluntarily and without being prompted” to the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU). , in March of this year.
