Prime Video to release Clarkson’s Farm special Jeremy Grows a Car next year

Jeremy Clarkson is returning to his motoring roots for a one-off Prime Video special titled Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special. The 66-year-old broadcaster will attempt a world first by growing and building his own vehicle from Diddly Squat Farm produce, with the global premiere slated for next year.

Frustrated by what he views as an influx of modern motoring’s endless beeps, bongs, and nanny-state technology, Jeremy Clarkson has decided that if he wants a new car, he will simply build one rather than buy one. The special will document his attempt to marry agricultural pursuits with automotive engineering at his West Oxfordshire farm.

Never before has the nation’s most famous farmer tackled a challenge of this magnitude.

Designing A Farm-Grown Jaguar F-Type V6S

The foundation for the ambitious project is the Jaguar F-Type V6S, a vehicle Clarkson regards as the sweet spot between analogue driving thrills and modern practicality. Having previously experienced the F-Type during travels through West Africa, he remarked that he bought one immediately and praised it as so impressive, adding that it was so tough and so unbreakable.

Unlike a conventional restoration project, however, the car will rely heavily on raw materials cultivated directly from the land. The cabin will feature a Diddly leather interior harvested from his own livestock alongside wool carpets. The most complex material challenge involves growing a crop of flax fibre to process into a flax-composite — pitched as a sustainable alternative to carbon fibre that has already caught the attention of major car manufacturers. Clarkson’s television career spans decades, beginning with his role hosting Top Gear in 1988, followed by fronting the 2002 BBC revival alongside James May and Richard Hammond, before the trio reunited to launch Prime Video motoring show The Grand Tour in 2016.

Working With Designer Ian Callum CBE

Clarkson will not tackle the design phase alone. He has enlisted car designer Ian Callum CBE, founder of the design and engineering firm CALLUM and the creative mind behind both the original Jaguar F-Type and the Aston Martin Vanquish. Callum’s role is to help shape a redesigned Jaguar that reflects what Clarkson believes the iconic British brand ought to represent in terms of style, luxury, and performance.

Streaming Next Year Across 240 Countries

The standalone special is produced by Expectation, with Andy Wilman, Peter Fincham, and Zoe Brewer serving as executive producers. Wilman previously collaborated with Clarkson across his motoring television career on both Top Gear and The Grand Tour.

Prime Video will distribute the special globally next year across more than 240 countries and territories, though an exact premiere date remains unannounced. The release bridges the gap between agricultural seasons for his main streaming hit. Series 5 of Clarkson’s Farm debuted earlier this year, while the full-length sixth series is scheduled to arrive in 2027.

Reflecting on the trajectory of his television career following the success of his 1,000-acre West Oxfordshire farming venture — which recently captured the factual entertainment prize at the National Television Awards — Clarkson noted that future projects will need to scale up to compete against digital media platforms. We’re currently thinking about what do we do after ‘Clarkson’s Farm,’ and it’s going to have to be something bigger to stand out, to protect us from this onslaught from underneath, Clarkson said, pointing to the rise of YouTube. It has to be unbelievably ambitious. Where people go, ‘What the f… are you doing? That’s incredible.’
