Lady Victoria Hervey’s Scathing Attacks on Virginia Giuffre Revealed in New Book
A former girlfriend of Prince Andrew publicly disparaged Virginia Giuffre during legal proceedings, allegedly calling her a “complete whore” and a “ghetto opportunity,” according to passages from Giuffre’s newly released memoir, Nobody’s Girl. The accusations resurface as Giuffre detailed being trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, alleging sexual abuse involving Prince Andrew, claims he has consistently denied.
Giuffre’s book, published Tuesday, details the intense scrutiny she faced during her legal battle with Prince Andrew, which concluded in a 2022 out-of-court settlement where Andrew did not admit liability. According to Giuffre, Lady Victoria Hervey, a British socialite with ties to the royal family, launched a verbal assault on Instagram during the height of the case.
“The prince was not without his supporters,” Giuffre wrote. “On January 31 [2022], a former girlfriend of his, a socialite named Lady Victoria Hervey, took to Instagram to say that in her opinion, I was ‘a complete whore.’ Then, just in case anyone had forgotten that this story is not just about sexual abuse but also about class, she added that I was ‘just a ghetto opportunity whose [sic] seriously mixed up.’”
Giuffre further alleges that Hervey continued her public criticism, giving “many mean-spirited interviews” in the months that followed. Newsweek has reached out to representatives of Hervey for comment via email.
The account aligns with reporting from 2022 by The Steeple Times, which published screenshots purportedly showing Hervey’s Instagram Stories posts. That reporting used the term “opportunist” instead of “opportunity.” These posts, which quickly disappear from Instagram Stories, reportedly contained the disparaging remarks.
Hervey’s skepticism towards Giuffre’s claims extended beyond social media. On October 17th, she appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where she questioned the veracity of Giuffre’s earlier statements about her health. “I think the whole thing is such a joke,” Hervey stated. “You know that actually people believe the girl that said, ‘Oh, I have four days to live.’ And she, you know, the girl just made up stories and it’s probably not her fault. Like she was abused by her father and her father’s friend when she was seven years old and that obviously had a huge impact on her life. But then to take that out on a member of the royal family…”
Adding to the controversy, Hervey also cast doubt on reports of Giuffre’s death in April, posting on Instagram: “On another note, there’s a growing consensus questioning whether she is truly dead. We never saw a body, never saw a funeral. Usually there’s at least a covered stretcher—but this time we got nothing.”
Hervey has consistently challenged the narratives of Epstein accusers. In January 2022, shortly after Ghislaine Maxwell’s conviction in December 2021, she posted on social media, questioning the age of consent in the UK and suggesting the accusations were motivated by revenge. “Some of these stories sound like a case study of Regret turning into Revenge,” she wrote. “This story has been so blown out of proportion. Or has it. Nobody knows. People are literally murdering people in LA and getting out of jail. It’s a real life gotham city blood bath. I know Ghislaine is obviously not a saint and should pay back the trauma caused to her ‘victims’ but lifetime in jail for touching a girls tit 20 years ago and taking them on yacht, private jet and shopping trips. Come on. This has become a witch 🧙🏼♀️ hunt.”
The revelations in Giuffre’s book underscore the complex web of relationships and defenses surrounding the Prince Andrew allegations, and highlight the vitriol directed towards the accuser.
