London: Queen Elizabeth’s son Prince Charles has reportedly received a donation from the family of Osama bin Laden, the founder of Al-Qaeda. In 2013, he received £1m for charity from bin Laden’s brother Shafiq and Saudi family patriarch Bakr bin Laden. Advisers at the Prince’s London residence and the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund protested but accepted the money.

Advisers had warned that if the transactions were leaked to the media, there would be problems at the national and international level and the deal would damage his reputation. Prince Charles has made it clear that Bakr bin Laden has no direct ties to his brother bin Laden and is not involved in any terrorist activities, amid intense pressure from advisers to return money to bin Laden’s family members and end deals. Charles also said he was embarrassed to return the money, according to the report. But the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund chairman stated that the prince had no direct involvement in the transaction and five trustee members of the organization agreed to receive money from Laden’s families.

There has been a controversy against the prince for handing over money in the name of the organization before this. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that he had received money for charity from a public figure in Qatar. He has not yet responded to allegations that he received money from bin Laden’s family.

Osama Bin Laden was the founder of Al-Qaeda. The United Nations Security Council, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the European Union, etc. have declared Al-Qaeda as a terrorist group. In 2011, US Special Forces raided Laden’s residence in Pakistan and killed the terrorist.
