Prince William and Kate Middleton Embrace the Chill with Polar Plunges and Family Adventures

The Prince and Princess of Wales are revealing a more adventurous side, with a shared passion for the invigorating – and bracing – activity of polar plunges. This surprising hobby, alongside cherished family time, offers a glimpse into the couple’s life beyond royal duties.

Prince William first shared his and Kate Middleton’s fondness for the icy dips during a beach walk with members of the Marine Conservation Society’s Youth Ocean Network in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, on Friday. “You feel great afterwards,” he reportedly said, according to the Daily Mail.

The Prince of Wales elaborated on the experience, admitting, “I love it. I do a lot of yelling and screaming when I get in.” He also revealed enjoying cold water dips in Scotland, further demonstrating his growing enthusiasm for the practice.

It was, however, Princess Kate who initially encouraged her husband to try the intense hobby. In September 2023, Prince William playfully called his wife “crazy” for her dedication to cold swimming during an appearance on The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast. She responded with laughter, explaining, “I love all sports…I love swimming. Cold swimming.” She continued, “The colder, the better. Slightly to the point where William’s like, ‘Catherine, you’re crazy.’ It’s dark and it’s raining and I’ll go and seek out cold water.”

Despite his initial hesitation, Prince William appears to have fully embraced the challenge. The couple’s active lifestyle extends beyond polar plunges, encompassing quality time with their three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.

In September, the royal parents delighted their children with a “magical” visit to the set of the Harry Potter film series. An insider described the experience to the Daily Mail as “so special,” noting the family had the opportunity to meet the young actors and the director. “There was only one night of filming there, so it really was a magical ticket.”

The family also enjoyed a summer outing to Wimbledon 2025, showcasing their coordinated style. This blend of adventurous hobbies and cherished family moments paints a picture of a modern royal couple who prioritize both personal fulfillment and creating lasting memories with their children.
