The “Tanik Vaik” company, engaged in the production of pipes in Armenia, founded the production of sand polymer tiles, the raw materials of which are recycled plastic and sand. The tiles produced by the company are strong and durable, they are used in urban and yard areas.
The partner of the company in turning the idea into a business is Akba Leasing, with whose support production machines were purchased.
“We produce environmentally friendly tiles. We get plastic from direct sunlight, as a result of which it does not produce harmful substances and is considered environmentally friendly, which allows it to be used in crowded places. We have a pipe workshop, then we had the idea to produce water meter boxes and tiles. We had the idea, but we did not have adequate financing. We applied to Akba Leasing, with the help of which we purchased fully automated equipment, transportation and adjustment machines,” said Gor Sayamyan, executive director of “Tanik Vaik” company.
The production volume of tiles is 55 tons per month. At the moment, the product is consumed only in the local market, in the near future the company plans to expand by creating benches, trash cans, roof covers and other products.
Akba Bank is the 100% shareholder of Akba Leasing.
Akba Leasing is controlled by the Central Bank of Armenia.

What innovative materials are used in the production of sand-polymer tiles at Tanik Vaik?
Interview Between Time.news Editor and Gor Sayamyan, Executive Director of ”Tanik Vaik”
Editor: Good day, Gor! Thank you for joining us. The work that “Tanik Vaik” is doing in Armenia is truly impressive. Can you share a bit about what motivated your company to expand into the production of sand-polymer tiles?
Gor Sayamyan: Thank you for having me! Our motivation stemmed from our commitment to sustainability and finding innovative uses for recycled materials. We initially focused on pipe production, but the idea to create environmentally friendly tiles came when we realized the potential for using recycled plastic alongside sand. It was an opportunity to reduce plastic waste while providing durable solutions for urban and yard applications.
Editor: It’s fascinating that your tiles are made from recycled materials. Could you elaborate on how the production process works and why it’s considered environmentally friendly?
Gor Sayamyan: Absolutely! Our production process is quite unique. We gather recycled plastic, which we process in a way that utilizes direct sunlight. This method ensures that no harmful substances are released during production, making our tiles safe for use in crowded areas like parks and playgrounds. We prioritize eco-friendliness, and that extends to every aspect of our manufacturing process.
Editor: That’s an innovative approach! Partnering with Akba Leasing must have been crucial for your expansion. How did that relationship come about, and how has it impacted your operations?
Gor Sayamyan: Partnering with Akba Leasing was indeed a turning point for us. We had the vision but lacked the necessary funding to acquire the fully automated equipment we needed for mass production. Their support allowed us to heavily invest in machinery and transport logistics. This collaboration has significantly increased our production capacity and efficiency, which is essential for meeting the growing demand for our products.
Editor: It sounds like a beneficial partnership for both parties. Could you tell us more about the applications of your tiles? Where do you see them being used most effectively?
Gor Sayamyan: Our tiles are primarily used in urban areas for flooring, pathways, and courtyards, but their strength and durability also make them suitable for various outdoor settings. We see great potential for them in public parks, schools, and commercial spaces. The tile’s aesthetic options allow designers and architects to incorporate them into a wide range of projects.
Editor: It’s great to hear about the versatility of your tiles. As society moves toward sustainability, what’s next for “Tanik Vaik”? Do you have any plans for future projects or innovations?
Gor Sayamyan: We’re continuously looking for ways to innovate and expand our product line. In addition to our tiles, we’re exploring the production of water meter boxes with the same sustainable principles. We aim to further reduce our environmental footprint while providing high-quality products. Expanding our outreach in Armenia and possibly beyond is also on the horizon as we seek to share our vision for sustainability with more communities.
Editor: Your vision is truly inspiring! Before we wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers about “Tanik Vaik” or the importance of sustainability in construction?
Gor Sayamyan: I’d like to emphasize that every small step towards sustainability counts. As consumers and businesses, we can all play a part in reducing waste and protecting our environment. By choosing eco-friendly products like our sand-polymer tiles, everyone can contribute to a healthier planet. Thank you for the opportunity to share our story!
Editor: Thank you, Gor. It’s been a pleasure speaking with you, and we look forward to seeing how “Tanik Vaik” continues to grow and innovate in the field of sustainable construction.
