Michael Chiarello, a well-known chef and television personality, has passed away at the age of 61. Chiarello gained fame through his appearances on cooking shows such as “Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello” and “Top Chef.”

Chiarello’s company, Gruppo Chiarello, released a statement announcing his death on Saturday in Napa. According to the statement, he was being treated for an acute allergic reaction that led to anaphylactic shock.

In a heartfelt statement, the Chiarello family expressed their deep grief over the loss. They praised Chiarello’s culinary brilliance, creativity, and dedication to family, stating that he brought people together through the joy of shared meals.

As a host of his own Food Network series, “Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello,” Chiarello gained a loyal following. The show ran for 10 seasons starting in 2003 and won three Emmys.

Chiarello also made appearances on other cooking shows such as “Top Chef,” “Top Chef Masters,” “The Next Iron Chef,” “Iron Chef America,” and “Supermarket Superstar.” He was known for his expertise and passion for the culinary arts.

Beyond television, Chiarello showcased his skills as a guest chef on popular morning shows like “The Today Show,” “CBS Early Show,” “Regis & Kathy,” and “The View.”

Born in California, Chiarello graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1982 and quickly made a name for himself. He was named Chef of the Year by Food & Wine Magazine in 1985 and received the same honor from his alma mater in 1995.

Throughout his career, Chiarello opened multiple restaurants in Northern California, including the popular establishments Bottega and Coqueta. He was also the author of over eight cookbooks, starting in 1995, and ventured into winemaking with the founding of Chiarello Family Vineyards in the late ’90s.
