In a document sent to doctors on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health calls for vigilance in the face of serious cases of strep A infections which have been reported “in larger numbers than usual” since two weeks. Eight children with no identified risk factor were hospitalized in intensive care after being infected with the bacteria. Two of them died, specifies the General Directorate of Health in a bulletin “DGS Urgent”. Three cases, including one death, have also been reported in adults.
