“Hraparak” newspaper writes: “In recent days, information has been spreading that the government has instructed the leaders of the local government to destroy the crosses, khachkars and memorials placed on all interstate and community roads. As early as last May, we wrote that the department belonging to the government sent a letter to municipal governments, particularly Syunik. “For the demolition (dismantling) of voluntarily built (placed) memorial stones, crosses and khachkars on the interstate and republican highways of the Republic of Armenia, please cooperate with the regional inspection units for their part.”
Apparently, the decision to “clean” national and interstate roads of Christian symbols is now being finalized. With this, on the one hand, they are opening the border and liberating it, on the other hand, they are taking another step towards reconciliation with the Turks and Azerbaijanis, so that the enemy crossing the border does not encounter Armenian Christian symbols that cause unwanted and unpleasant associations for him.
