Puducherry University wins British Council Women’s Science Fellowship. Former student

Puducherry: Puducherry University alumnus Dr Tapasum Abbasi, who won the prestigious British Council Women’s Science Fellowship, was felicitated and blessed by Puducherry University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gurmeet Singh.

He will receive it from the University of Edinburgh, which is ranked highest in the world (ranked 15th in the 2023QS World Ranking). Also, there he will work on the application of artificial intelligence techniques in energy and environmental management with an emphasis on renewable energy sources.

Dr. Tapas also won a gold medal in M.Tech from Puducherry University for topping his field and later completed his Ph.D. from the same university. Publications arising from his Ph.D work have already received over 1200 citations from all over the world. Notably, this has made him a rising star in the global scientific field and one of the top 12% of scientists in the world overall.

Dr. Tapas has been working at UPES University, Dehradun as an Assistant Professor (currently Senior Grade) for the past 4 years and is currently going to Edinburgh on sabbatical leave provided by the University.

In this regard, he said that all the credit goes to the University of Puducherry where he studied, especially to the Vice Chancellor of Puducherry University, Prof. Gurmeet Singh, who gave him the environment, inspiration and motivation to excel.
