Indian and South African cricket teams play Test cricket at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. India won the toss and elected to bat.
Captain KL Rahul and Mayang Agarwal were the opening batsmen. Mayang was out for 26 runs. Later, senior Indian players Pujara (3) and Rahane (0) returned to the pavilion with short runs. Both have consistently exhibited poor play.
Pujara has been ducked three times in his last 22 Test innings. He has been out seven times in single-digit runs. Only twice has he recorded a half-century. Rahane has been ducked twice in his last 11 Test innings. Twice out on single-digit runs. Only once has he recorded a half-century.
Despite the fact that there are a lot of young players in the team, the fact that both of them are consistently experienced players has been criticized. The main reason for that is their poor batting form.
