New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in the run-up to the Punjab Assembly elections. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made great strides in its maiden term in the BJP-ruled corporation.

In the last election, the BJP won 20 seats and the Akali Dal one. The Congress won four seats. The corporation results suggest that the Punjab farmers’ agitation against the central government demanding the repeal of agricultural laws was reflected in the elections.

The BJP suffered a major setback in Chandigarh. All the BJP’s leading candidates failed. Incumbent mayor Ravikant Sharma of the BJP was defeated by Aam Aadmi Party’s Daman Preet Singh. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has said that the trailer ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections is a victory for the Chandigarh Corporation and will be repeated in the Assembly elections.
