Purchasing power: the “worker fuel allowance” will benefit half of French people according to their income

by time news

Who will still benefit from a boost from the State at the pump from next January 1? The government rebate, reduced from 30 to 10 cents per liter of fuel this Wednesday, November 16, will disappear on this date. It will be replaced by a new device, presented this Friday in Les Echos by the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne.

This aid is called “worker fuel allowance”. It “will benefit households in the first five income deciles, i.e. half of households”, indicates the Prime Minister. They will benefit from a first payment at the beginning of the year.

The precise scale is not yet fixed, but Élisabeth Borne says she wants to “significantly help those who make a long journey to go to work”. We do not know either, for the moment, how it will be possible to fill out a file or to report to benefit from this boost.

Tax-exempt aid ceiling doubled

Elisabeth Borne also ensures that this aid will be paid regardless of the evolution of prices at the pump. “We could wonder if oil prices collapsed, but it’s still unlikely! “, she answers in Les Echos.

Finally, the Prime Minister recalls that the government has, for the years 2022 and 2023, “doubled the ceiling for tax-free aid that employers can offer to their employees who use their vehicle to work”.
