LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Carley Barrett, the 2025 co-Small Schools Player of the Year, is returning to the court. Just four months after announcing the end of her competitive career, Barrett will play college basketball as a walk-on for Purdue University, embracing her family’s Boilermaker legacy.

Her brother, Carson, is a graduate assistant for the Purdue men’s basketball team and was part of the 2023-24 Final Four squad. Barrett’s decision to join the women’s program adds another chapter to their family’s connection to the university.

Barrett’s standout high school career earned her the title of Reader’s Choice Female Athlete of the Year. She averaged an impressive 14.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 5.8 steals per game. These stats helped lead Central Catholic to the IHSAA Class 1A state final game.
