Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet on September 4 in the Russian resort of Sochi for talk about the war in Ukraine and the resumption of the Black Sea grain deals.
“LThe negotiations will indeed take place on Monday in Sochi“, confirmed this Friday the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskovin his daily press conference, who added that the talks between the two leaders will take place “at noon.”
It will be the first meeting between Putin and Erdogan after the departure from Moscow, last July, of the pact for the export of grain across the Black Sea, citing the “Russian side”‘s non-compliance with that agreement.
The previous meeting between the Russian and Turkish presidents took place on October 13 last year in Astana. At the same time, both spoke by phone on August 2 of this year.
The summit in Sochi comes days after Russian-Turkish foreign ministerial negotiations hosted by Moscow this week. Turkey considers that there is no alternative to the Black Sea Initiative, which operated for one year. While, Russia wants to offer Turkey the supply of one million tons of Russian grain at a reduced price so that the cereal can be processed in Turkish companies and subsequently sent to the countries most in need.
