Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken by telephone with French President Emanuel Macron at 1.45 pm as Russian forces continue their 11-day offensive in Ukraine.

During the talks, Putin accused Kiev of failing to evacuate civilians from Ukraine’s main port city of Mariupol, which is surrounded by Russian forces.

He also explained the progress of the special military operations carried out to protect Donbass and the main objectives of the offensive.

At the same time, he told Macron that Russia had no intention of attacking Ukraine’s nuclear facilities.

The director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called for three-way talks between Ukraine and Russia. The talks called for ensuring nuclear security in Ukraine.

Speaking to Macron, Putin said that although it was a good idea, they should consider holding talks on video or in a third country.
