Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree ordering the organization of a large-scale educational program to combat the falsification of history, which he believes is organized by the West, TASS reported.

According to a document called the Foundations of the State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Field of Historical Education, state contracts for the creation of historical cinema and literature, control over the content of computer games and support for the fight against the falsification of history are already included in the tasks of state policy in the field of historical education.

“The tasks are to promote historical education – by creating and broadcasting (dissemination) of local historical films; creating mechanisms for state and public control over the existing market of computer games in order to exclude the uncontrolled distribution of digital products that create a distorted view of events from national and world history, as well as about Russia‘s place and role in the world,” the document says.

It also claims that “the collective West is using the falsification of history as a weapon in the information war aimed at destroying the integrity of Russian society and state.”

In order to counteract the risks, “it is necessary to undertake coordinated, comprehensive and large-scale efforts to organize and ensure systematic and large-scale work in the field of historical education, education and science,” the presidential decree, quoted by BTA, also reads.
