Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke of an update on the nuclear doctrine in his country and assures that he will be willing to use nuclear weapons if Russia is threatened by the West.
In a meeting with the members of the permanent board of the Russian Security Council orchestrated this Wednesday, they spoke to organize the foundations of the State policy on issues of deterrence with atomic weapons.
The Russian president reported that any aggression by conventional weapons will be condemned and if said attack is supported by a nuclear power, it will be considered as “joint attack.”
On the other hand, the Russian Federation declared that it reserves the right to use weapons of mass destruction in case of aggression against Belarus.
Putin’s statements about the use of a nuclear arsenal are mainly due to requests from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to use long-range missiles to neutralize targets within Russian territory.
The request of the Ukrainian president has been ignored by the United States and the West in general, for fear of a further escalation in the conflict in Europe.
