The Medici Prize was awarded Thursday, November 9 to Canadian author Kevin Lambert for “Let our joy remain”, once again consecrating this rising star of Quebec literature. This 31-year-old author had already won the December Prize at the end of October, another prestigious literary award of the fall, with this story of the downfall of an architect suddenly accused of chasing the poor out of Montreal.

The novel was published in August by Editions du Nouvel Attila, a year after its Canadian edition by Héliotrope. He won in the second round with six votes against four for Moroccan Salma El Moumni, with “Farewell Tangier”.

Lidia Jorge and Han Kan tied for the foreign novel prize

Two authors jointly won the Medici Prize for a foreign novel. The Portuguese Lidia Jorge for « Misericordia » (Métailié) and the South Korean Han Kang for “Impossible goodbyes” (Grasset) both obtained four votes in the seventh round.

The essay prize went to Laure Murat for « Proust, roman familial » (published by Robert Laffont), who gathered an absolute majority in the first round, announced the jury from the Parisian restaurant La Méditerranée.
