Spinal Stroke Details

Aaron was initially hospitalized in Atlanta in late January after collapsing due to numbness in his legs while walking upstairs. His partner, Margarita, assisted him to the couch, and he was placed on life support while en route to the hospital. Prior reports indicated that Aaron experienced neck and back pain for several days before the onset of numbness.

Doctors determined that Aaron suffered a spinal stroke, a condition that occurs when blood flow to the spinal cord is interrupted. According to Cleveland Clinic, blood clots are the most common cause, but hemorrhages can also be responsible. He also has a rare cyst on his spine and is currently being treated for a blood infection.

Family Concerns Regarding Partner

In January, Aaron’s family released a statement requesting that the public rely solely on official updates from their appointed spokesperson, Liana Mendoza, for accurate information regarding his health. Later reports revealed that Aaron’s partner, Margarita, is not legally married to him and had been attempting to influence “crucial and life-saving medical decisions” during his hospitalization.

Margarita reportedly told TMZ that she and Aaron had a “spiritual marriage,” while also disclosing that she is currently married to another man. She clarified that she does not have power of attorney and has not made any medical decisions on Aaron’s behalf.
