Rahul Dravid Steps Down as Team India’s Head Coach, Set to Join IPL Franchise

After a successful stint as the head coach of Team India, Rahul Dravid has decided to step down from his role. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been informed of his decision, and Dravid is reportedly considering returning to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

VVS Laxman has taken over Dravid’s position as the head coach of Team India, but reports suggest that Dravid may be joining one of the IPL franchises ahead of the upcoming season. Journalist Abhishek Tripathi has hinted that Dravid could potentially take up the position of mentor for the Lucknow Supergiants if the BCCI does not offer him a new contract.

Gautam Gambhir, who was previously the mentor for Lucknow Supergiants, has returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders for the new IPL season. However, there are also rumors that Rajasthan Royals are interested in bringing back Dravid, but the offer from Lucknow is said to be more lucrative.

Dravid’s tenure as the head coach of Team India saw them reach the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where they lost to England. They also reached the final of the World Test Championship, but were defeated by Australia. Additionally, India lost to Australia in the ICC World Cup final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19.

While Dravid was unable to lead India to victory in ICC tournaments, his contribution to the team has been widely recognized. It remains to be seen where he will go next, but his talent and expertise are sure to be in high demand in the world of cricket.
