Shillong – The police said that the center of immorality was operating in a resort owned by the Meghalaya BJP Vice President Bernard N. Marak Rimpu. 73 people were arrested in a raid conducted by the police at a resort in West Garo Hills district. It is reported that Bernard is missing after the incident; Police have started searching.

The national media reported that Bernard informed that he has not gone into hiding and is cooperating with the police investigation. Bernard alleged that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was behind the raid. Bernard also accused Conrad of conniving with the police to frame him in a false case and linking it to the February POCSO case.

The raid took place between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. According to the police, six children were found locked in unsanitary rooms at the resort. All the children were in a bad mood. They couldn’t even talk. The police clarified that the objects recovered from there and the structure of the resort indicated that an immoral center was operating there.

Bernard denied all this and said no illegal activities were going on there. None of those taken into custody were involved in bad activities. Bernard said that the police raided and harassed the minor students whom he sponsored and taught and accused them of engaging in sexual activities.

Bernard is the People’s Representative of Garo Hill Autonomous District Council. Bernard, an accused in the POCSO case, has been in the news for constantly arguing with the Meghalaya ruling party, the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance.
