/ Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi confirmed today, Tuesday, that the strikes that targeted the Iranian embassy in Damascus and led to the killing of 7 Revolutionary Guard members yesterday, Monday, “will not pass without a response.”

At a time when the New York Times newspaper quoted Iranian officials as saying that the Israeli raid targeted a secret meeting that included Iranian intelligence officials and Palestinian militants to discuss the war in Gaza.

The Iranian president said, “Day after day, we witness the strengthening of the resistance front and the disgust and hatred of free countries for the illegal nature” of Israel, adding that “this cowardly crime will not go unanswered.”

Subsequently, the New York Times reported that leaders of the Islamic Jihad movement, which is funded and supported by Iran, were at the meeting, and that at least 7 officers were killed in the raid, including 3 generals who supervise Iranian secret operations in the Middle East.

This information confirms what was reported by Agency yesterday, citing Syrian sources, who reported that “the raid that took place in Damascus targeted a building adjacent to the Iranian embassy building, which belongs to it, and it is believed to be the residence of the Iranian ambassador himself.”

She added that the raid targeted a meeting between leaders in the Revolutionary Guard and others in the “Islamic Jihad Movement” in Palestine.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that eight people were killed when “Israeli missiles destroyed a building attached to the Iranian embassy on the Mezzeh Highway in the capital, Damascus.”

The Iranian ambassador to Syria, Hussein Akbari, confirmed that his country would “respond decisively” to the bombing while speaking about a lower death toll, saying, “At least five people were killed in the attack carried out by F-35 fighter jets.”

Iranian state television reported that the prominent leader of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guard, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, was killed in the attack, along with five other figures in the Revolutionary Guard.
