Rajapaksa’s political camp disintegrates – new alliance emerges

Despite the desire to bring former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa back to Sri Lanka into politics, a new political alliance has emerged today as the political camp of the Rajapaksas is now breaking into pieces.

The new alliance was formed by a group of 15 parliamentarians who previously belonged to the ruling party (SLPP) and later declared independence.

In an event held today at the Colombo Makaramaka National Youth Services Council premises, the name of his alliance “The Greater Sri Lanka Alliance” have made it public.

Member of Parliament Vimal Weerawansa has been appointed as the leader of the new political alliance. The name and logo of the new alliance was also announced to the general public today.

Member of Parliament Vasudeva Nanayakkara has said that the people will get a new future through this new alliance and that this alliance was formed based on a long-term vision and many programs.

It is said that the formation of this new alliance is a beginning for the new government to be formed in Sri Lanka, and 8 independent parties are united in this alliance.
