New Delhi: Today is Ram Navami. It is one of the most important festivals of Hindu religion. On this day the entire country celebrates the birth of Lord Ram. It falls on the ninth date of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on this occasion. There will be no trading activity in these. There will also be no work in different segments including Equity, Equity Derivatives, SLB (Securities Lending and Borrowing), Currency Derivatives and Interest Rate Derivatives. Banks will also remain closed on this occasion in many states.

MCX will trade in the evening

Stock exchanges will definitely remain closed for the whole day. But, trading activities will take place in the evening session at Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). There will be no trading in MCX during the morning session only on the occasion of Ram Navami.

Bank holiday in these states

The states where banks will remain closed on this Ram Navami include Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh. There will be a complete holiday in banks in these states on Wednesday. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has officially declared this day as a business holiday for banks. However, banks will remain open in Delhi.
