Rancon Motors will set up 21 EQ charging stations in various important places of the country including the capital. For this purpose, an agreement has been made with Genex Infrastructure. Rancon Motors is the sole distributor of Mercedes Benz in Bangladesh.

Mercedes-Benz Dhaka plans to launch the EQ lineup of five different models by April this year. Genex and Rancon will set up charging stations across the country prior to the launch of the EQ vehicles to ensure seamless service and maximum customer convenience. Initially 7 EQ charging stations will be set up in Dhaka and 14 in important places of the country.

Recently, the agreement was signed at the Mercedes Benz showroom of Rango’s Babylonia Tower in Tejgaon industrial area of ​​the capital. Representing Rancon Motors are Imran Zaman Khan, Divisional Director; Redwanul Zia, Chief Executive Officer; Chowdhury Md. Nabil Hasan, Head of Marketing and Syed Shafiqul Hasan, COO on behalf of Genex Infrastructure Limited; Mahmudul Hasan Lawrence, Deputy General Manager (Finance); Pallab Kumar Pal, Senior Manager (Solutions and R&D) and Ghalib Mohammad Karim, Assistant Manager Business Engagement were present on the occasion.

Normal roads in the country are not more than 300 km. Hence, Bangladesh is an ideal country for EVs. All Mercedes EQ lineups have a range of over 450 to 650 km. For this, Mercedes-Benz and Genex Infrastructure Limited will set up a total of 21 EQ charging stations at premium hotels, tourist destinations, highway restaurants, shopping malls and important commercial areas across the country.

According to experts, electric vehicles are widely regarded as a promising technology in sustainable transportation. Besides, low import duty and low fuel consumption are also making consumers interested in electric cars.

According to Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) sources, the ‘Electric Vehicle Charging Guidelines’ have been prepared to provide a framework for setting up an extensive network of charging stations across the country. Bangladesh government is also prioritizing it for future automotive transformation. As a result, this initiative of Rancon Motors Limited is going to be helpful in achieving the goals of the government.

On the occasion, Divisional Director of Rancon Motors Limited, Imran Zaman Khan said, ‘We are working to achieve the goal of Smart Bangladesh. Our aim is to work towards increasing the penetration of electric vehicles in Bangladesh and ensure seamless and maximum convenience for consumers through charging stations.’

Genex Infrastructure Limited Deputy General Manager Mahmudul Hasan Lawrence said, ‘As more people start using electric cars, the demand for charging stations will increase. Our skilled and dedicated EPC team is ready to execute the project properly to ensure seamless customer service.’
