After Bengali actress Srilekha, a young actor filed a case against Malayalam film producer Ranjith for sexual harassment. Allegedly, in 2012, this actor was forced to be naked by Ranjith.
The Hindu reported in a report that the young actor filed a case against Ranjith in the Kasaba police station under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code last Friday night. Ranjith sexually harassed her in 2012.
Citing the statement of the case, the report said that the victim actor was called to a hotel in Bangalore about the audition. There she was forced to strip and assaulted with the promise of a good acting opportunity. The victim actor thought it was part of the audition. Ranjith offered to pay him the next morning.
After the young actor’s allegation came to light, more criticism is pouring in across India. Ranjith is yet to comment on the allegations.
The Hema Committee report was published on August 19. The Hema Committee has revealed the facts of sexual harassment, casting couch, pay discrimination, exploitation in the Malayalam film industry. It has received allegations of sexual harassment against senior actors and producers.
Apart from director Ranjith, the accused include Thulsidas, Jayasuriya, Mukesh, Manyanpila Raju, Edavela Babu and Suraj Venjaramudhur among others.
