(24 News) A rare ‘ring of fire’ solar eclipse will be witnessed in various parts of South America today, with experts warning that direct viewing may affect eyesight.

This occurs when the Moon orbits between the Sun and Earth, but does not completely cover the Sun, creating a ‘Ring of Fire’, a circular glow of light around the Sun. .

According to Diego Hernández, an expert at the Buenos Aires Planetarium, today the moon will be a little farther from the Earth than usual, due to which it will fail to cover the Sun completely. ‘Off Fire’ will be on display for just a few minutes at around 18:45 GMT (18:45 GMT).

This rare sight will start from the Pacific Ocean and reach the Atlantic Ocean through the Andes and Patagonia regions, while parts of Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil will see a partial eclipse.
