The PC gaming brand announced the Razer Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition in December, reviving a design from 1999. The original Boomslang was a pioneer in gaming mice, crafted by Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 81, and Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan.
Modern Internals, Retro Style
While the exterior evokes the original Boomslang’s shape, the new version is packed with modern components. It utilizes the same optical sensor and 8,000Hz polling rate found in Razer’s DeathAdder V4 Pro, offering a substantial leap in performance over the original’s 2,000 DPI and mechanical ball tracking. The new mouse also features Razer’s Gen 4 optical switches.
