Ahead of the IPL 2022 bid, the famous Aussie shared his experiences of retaining himself in the RCB team. Peter Glenn Maxwell.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2022. Before that the mega auction was held. Teams were allowed to retain certain players. Accordingly, the RCB team retained Virat Kohli (Rs 15 crore), Maxwell (Rs 11 crore) and Chirac (Rs 7 crore).
In this regard, Maxwell said about the RCB team retaining itself before the auction:
Because it’s a big auction, no one knows what will happen. And how many people they are going to retain. Siraj, Harshal, Chahal, AB de Villiers, Kohli, many young Indian players were likely to be retained. So retaining a foreign batter may not be the right decision. This is the situation. But there were many things running through my head. Then I got a phone call (from RCB director Mike Hesson) that I had been retained. He said that I was very happy immediately.
Maxwell scored 513 runs in 15 matches in IPL 2021. He scored 301 runs in 13 matches in IPL 2022.
