“We regret the death of supporter txuri-urdin (white and blue, in Basque, editor’s note) who was evacuated before the start of today’s match (Wednesday, editor’s note). Tonight’s victory is for you. Rest in peace,” Real Sociedad said in their statement.
The start of the match of the 10th day of the Spanish championship between Real Sociedad and Mallorca (1-0) was delayed by a few minutes due to the evacuation of this supporter, aged around 70 according to the local press .
“Strength and courage to the family from the whole team. This success, we dedicate it to the deceased supporter, ”reacted the coach of the Basque club, Imanol Alguacil, at the final whistle.

According to local media, the man suffered a heart attack while he was in the stands of the Anoeta stadium. Evacuated to the hospital, he could not be resuscitated. This is the second death recorded in the stands of the San Sebastián stadium this year.
