New Delhi: Taiwanese company Evergreen Marine Corporation has surprised employees by giving them an amount equal to their 50 months salary as a bonus. The company gives bonus to the employees working in every post.
This company was established in 1968. They own more than 150 container ships. The company’s ships operate in 240 ports in 80 countries. The company says that this bonus is given to the employees based on the last year’s profit. Individual performance of employees is also benchmarked. The company’s revenue for the first three quarters of fiscal 2022 was $9.91 billion. This is an increase of 92 percent compared to 2021.
Evergreen Marine Corporation is the company that owns the Evergiven ship that got stuck in the Suez Canal in 2021. On March 23, 2021, the Evergiven ship of the company got stuck in the Suez Canal. A total of 369 ships returned without reaching their destination after the 400 meter long giant ship Evergiven got stuck in Suez. The Suez Canal Authority reported a loss of US$14 million in revenue per day when the ship was stuck. 12 percent of the world’s cargo traffic goes through Egypt’s Suez Canal. More than fifty ships pass through the Suez Canal every day.
