The government has reduced the number of working days per week in the United Arab Emirates to four and a half.
The government has declared Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday as new weekends.
According to the state news agency WAM, it will be implemented in all central departments from January 1, 2022.
It has been announced that this new system will come into effect in all Central Government Institutions with working hours from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Friday working hours start at 7.30am and end at 12pm. Friday prayers are said to be after 1:15 p.m.
WAM said the decision was aimed at increasing productivity and improving work-life balance.
